February is half over and it’s a long weekend for many of us! This weekend I look back to this time last year with my latest Update video. It’s a reflection, an update, and a celebration of the products of the Freakin’ Past.
I’ve also got some fresh Amazon deals, and new vlog over on F2, and a tip for baking. Let’s dive in!
NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
10 Past Reviews, 1 Year Later
This week I have my 63rd Update video in which I revisit 10 past reviews and let you know the ultimate fate of the products: did I continue to use them, give them away, donate them, or relegate them to the Boneyard?
Perhaps the most significant update among this batch is for the Popsmith, a $200 popcorn popper, which I used extensively in 2025 - and ultimately stopped using.
If you wonder how some of these items held up long-term, click the link below to check out the full update.
DEALS 🏷️
Cast Iron Dutch Oven: 36% Off

I’m a fan of cast iron Dutch ovens and have one similar to this, which I paid much more for! This model is the cheapest I’ve seen it in months, with this limited deal. If you’ve been in the market, this is where you should start.
Fusion5 Razor Refills: 19% Off
I’ve been using Fusion5 razors since I reviewed them in the previous decade. Nothing I’ve used really compares, so when I see the refills on sale, I jump on them. If you use a Fusion5, or if you’ve considered making the switch, this is a good chance to load up.
Ototo Bat Scissors: 50% Off
These clever scissors with a “bat” design are currently slashed down to half off, presumably because a lot of people buy it around Halloween. I say it is unique enough to use all year long, especially at this price!
The “Double Pan” Trick for Perfectly Baked Cookies
If you’ve ever had cookies that look perfect on top but are burned or overly dark on the bottom, here’s an easy fix:
Place your cookie sheet on top of a second empty baking sheet before putting it in the oven. That’s it!
Most ovens heat from the bottom. Your baking sheet absorbs that heat directly, which can over-brown the bottoms before the centers are done. By stacking a second sheet underneath, you create a buffer layer that reduces direct bottom heat, slows browning on the underside, and promotes more even baking
This is especially helpful if your oven runs hot, you’re using dark nonstick pans, or you’re baking delicate cookies like sugar cookies or shortbread.
FREAKIN’ 2
Latest Vlog: Cake Collusion & My Brush with the FBI
My latest vlog dropped yesterday and covers a vast array of thoughts and events from my son Brandon leaving to discussions about true crime, my brush with the FBI, and a particularly odd cake salesperson. I also have thoughts on AI, the passage of time, and being a workaholic. It’s a lot jammed into 11 minutes, so give it a view at the link below.
ON THIS DATE 🗓️
Countertop Dishwasher (2021)
On this date back in 2021, I tested out a countertop dishwasher to see how it compared with a full-sized model. Obviously, the capacity would not be the same, but how about its ability to clean dishes? Although I was skeptical, the end results speak for themselves.
This video, 5 years later, is still one I get asked about all the time as it’s one of those items that continues to spark curiosity. In the end, I gave this away to a local viewer who needed it and the last I heard, it was still working. If you never saw the video, or need a refresher, check it out at the link below.
SHORT SPOTLIGHT 🎥
Soda Pour Spout

In today’s Short Spotlight, we look back at a cheap soda spout I picked up on Temu. It was an interesting gadget that was going around online at the time. Perhaps telling is that I don’t see it advertised anymore. Hmm.
Well, if you want a refresher on that video, check out the short that was just posted this week.
If you have more time to kill, why not check out the full review here?
Well that’s it for now. If there’s any products covered in Update 63 that you want more info on, be sure to check the description, where I have links to all of the original reviews. You can also ask me a question via email or Discord if you still need answers.
I hope you’re staying safe out there.
Until next time,
James
