New Video: Revisiting 10 Past Reviews

Update 62, fresh deals, household tips, and more!

In partnership with

We’re somehow already sliding into late November, and Thanksgiving is only eight days away! Before the carving knives come out, I’m taking a moment to look back at this time last year and revisit several products I reviewed then to see what ever became of them. That means Update #62 is here and it’s available now for email subscribers before going public later today. I’ve also got the usual mix of deals, tips, and a few extras.

Let’s dive in!

NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
What Happened After These 10 Reviews?

Whatever became of these products I reviewed last year?

I’m back with a new upload. Today I posted my latest “update” video in which I revisit 10 past reviews from about a year ago and discuss what became of my products after the cameras turned off. Did I keep using them, donate them, or relegate them to the Boneyard? As with every update video, it’s a pretty wide variety of items, with a few product that I surprised myself by continuing to use. Check out today’s video before it goes public later today!

Home insurance premiums are up by 9% this year

Home insurance costs continue to climb, with premiums rising over 9% this year and more than 60% in the past five years. However, coverage hasn’t kept pace, leaving many homeowners paying significantly more for less protection. With affordability becoming a growing concern, it’s more important than ever to compare options—check out Money’s handy home insurance tool to find the best fit for you.

DEALS 🏷️
Manscaped Beard Trimmer: 30% Off

If you’re a man with facial hair (or shopping for such a person), a solid beard trimmer is always a safe bet. This popular model from Manscaped is currently 30% off its usual $100 price. My price tracking shows this is the lowest it’s been in months, so this one’s legit.

Dog Car Seat Cover: 15% Off
Bailey loves her car rides, but my car seats aren’t always fond of her presence! A cover like this is a must for nails and fur. Fifteen percent off may not sound huge, but this is the lowest price I’ve seen on it in a long time, and the reviews are strong across more than 11,000 ratings.

Shark StainStriker: 29% Off
This carpet and upholstery cleaner looks intimidating, and the name “StainStriker” doesn’t exactly calm the nerves, but the discount is real. It normally sells between $110 and $130, and it’s dropped to $99.99. That’s the best price I’ve seen on it in quite a while.

Cup Conversion Tip: The 4–3–2–1 Rule
If you ever need to scale a recipe up or down quickly, remember this easy ratio:

4 tablespoons = ¼ cup,
3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon,
2 cups = 1 pint,
1 cup = 8 ounces.

It’s a simple mental shortcut that saves you from constantly
Googling conversions while cooking.

Measuring Tools (2024)

Which hand warmer brought the most heat?

One of the videos featured in today’s Update originally went up exactly one year ago. In it, I tested two kitchen measuring tools: the Polygon spoons and a sugar dispenser. The dispenser didn’t exactly win me over, but those flat Polygon spoons turned out to be more than just a novelty, as I’ve actually kept using them ever since. If you want to see how both items held up in my tests, you can revisit the full video.

SHORT SPOTLIGHT 🎥
Dippin’ Dots Maker

It’s wild to think my review of the Dippin’ Dots Maker was more than two years ago. To give it a little revival, I recently posted a short edit of that video, and that’s today’s Short Spotlight. If you caught the original back then, this makes for a fun refresher. If you missed it entirely, this quick edit gives you a pretty good snapshot of how things went.

And if you want to revisit the full review, you can check it out here.

Well, that’s about it for today. As I’m typing this, Vegas is looking fully settled into fall: days of rain, temps hovering around 50, and Bailey curled up sleeping beside me. I’ve already pulled out a few Christmas decorations and started thinking about what I’ll be reviewing as winter rolls in. There’s a lot happening here and in the world, and I’d encourage you to slow down when you can and enjoy the little things each day before they slip by.

Until next time,
James
