Spring is in the air and it’s my favorite time of the year because that’s when all of the personal cooling gadgets start flooding social media ads… and this week did not disappoint. After seeing several personal fans advertising online, I decided to try a few out and compare them against each other. I’ve also got a new “powdery” food vlog from Freakin’ 2, and more.

NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
Testing Portable Fans Advertising on Facebook

The advertising looks impressive, but how are they in my tests?

We all know Facebook is littered with ads, but as a product reviewer, I tend to stop and look at what they’re advertising. With the arrival of Spring, I recently noticed an influx of personal fans being advertised there, so I decided to buy 4 of them and test them out in a real-world scenario. Do they live up to the advertising hype? (Spoiler: Not all of them do!)

Check out today’s video at the link below to see how they performed, and at the end I offer my final ranking of each. The results may surprise you!

DEALS 🏷️
#1 Bug Zapper

When I see a #1 Best Selling item on sale, I take note! This bug zapper is listed at 50% off, but my tracker shows that’s it’s more like 20% off its usual price. But for a #1 Best Seller, any discount is worth considering! It’s that time of year when bugs start joining us for our outdoor activities, and this could help thin the herd a bit.

Mop and Bucket: 40% Off

Longtime readers of this newsletter may recall that about a year ago I suggested this mop as an Amazon deal, and it’s back again. This is close to the In and Out Mop I tested years ago (review here), which I was a big fan of. This unit has high consumer ratings with over 16,000 reviews.

KitchenAid Masher: 41% Off

I’m a fan of KitchenAid, and their wire masher is currently marked down to about $10. I do like this kind of masher for things like mashed potatoes, and this model is dishwasher safe and stainless steel, meaning you’ll get years of use before you need to think about getting another one.

Personal Cooling Tips

Freeze a Damp Cloth

Freeze a slightly damp washcloth and drape it on your neck with a fan blowing. It works because it combines evaporative and conductive cooling. It feels MUCH colder than a fan alone. The only downside is that it’s temporary and potentially messy or wet.

Use a Fan to Clear Heat at Night

At night, place a fan in a window blowing OUT to pull hot air out of the room. This removes trapped heat instead of recirculating it, and tends to make a bigger difference than people expect. The only downside is that it depends on outdoor temperature.

FREAKIN’ 2
Everything is POWDER!

An entire meal made from powder?

Earlier this week I posted my latest Freakin’ 2 food vlog in which I tested out a number of powdered foods: eggs, pancakes, peanut butter, and milk. I had pretty low expectations going into it… but how did they fare? Check out the full video below.

Nostalgia Breakfast Station (2024)

“All-In-One” isn’t always the best way to go.

Exactly two years ago today, I tested out an all-in-one breakfast maker by Nostalgia, which includes a toaster and mini griddle. The good news is that it worked, but the bad news is that it was far from ideal. If you missed my review the first time around, check out the review at the link below and see how my tests went.

Personal fans and bug zappers are only the beginning of a long stretch of warm weather here in Las Vegas, and probably for many of you as well. I hope everyone reading this is have a great day and staying safe out there! I’ll be back next week with my next video, and keep an eye out for a mid-week email for something a little different.

Until next time,
James
