New Video: A $120 AA Battery Charger?

Plus a few choice Amazon Deals, car gadget flashback, and a soda can hack

Today’s newsletter is stacked! I’ve got a fresh review of a $120 viral battery charger going around social media, a look back at some surprisingly useful car gadgets from three years ago, and a few solid deals to round things out (including rechargeable batteries to go with today’s video theme). Let’s jump in!

NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
Testing a $120 Viral Battery Charger

Is this battery charger worth $120?

I’ve been seeing this thing all over social media: a flashy battery charging station that promises to charge, test, and organize your AA rechargeables, all in one slick unit. They say it’s smart enough to detect bad batteries, charge up to 32 at once, and even give you real-time updates through an app.

Sounds great but it had better be flawless for $120! So, I put it to the test with over 20 rechargeable batteries, including a few older “questionable” ones, and ran it through several days of real-world use. Did it live up to the hype? Or did it just give me a bin full of perfectly good batteries marked as “bad”?

If you don’t have time to watch, you can always read the written version here.

DEALS 🏷️
Rechargeable Batteries: 12% Off

Since today’s video is all about rechargeable batteries, let’s kick things off with a fitting deal: an 8-pack of Amazon Basics NiMH AA batteries for under $10. With over 167,000 ratings on Amazon, these are clearly a fan favorite and well-tested by the masses.

🗒️ Post-It Notes: 34% Off
Back-to-school season is here, and this 15-pad pack of Post-It brand notes is a steal at under $10. Each pad has 45 sheets in a rainbow of colors, which is ideal for students, teachers, office warriors, or anyone who loves to stay organized.

🍳 Griddle Set: 45% Off
Fire up the grill with this 35-piece griddle accessory set, loaded with spatulas, scrapers, turners, egg rings, a cleaning brush, spice shakers, and more. At $22, this markdown is hard to beat and covers just about every grilling accessory you could need.

Soda Can Hack: No More Sticky Spills?
Ever opened a can of soda, taken a sip, and then set it down somewhere, only to knock it over later? You can reduce the risk by simply flipping the pull tab around after opening and sliding your straw through the hole. Not only does it keep the straw in place (great for kids or road trips), but the tab acts as a mini guard that makes the can less likely to splash if it tips slightly. It can also keep bugs out when you’re outdoors.

Testing 7 Car Gadgets (2022)

Can these gadgets level-up your driving experience?

Three years ago today, I tested out seven car gadgets, from a solar-powered air freshener and shiny vent covers to visor clips, a mirror phone holder, a car vac, a tire inflator, and even an auto fan.

Surprisingly, a couple of these “fun finds” turned out to be long-term keepers. I still use the mirror phone holder whenever I film in my car, and my son Brandon still swears by that little car vac. Not bad for a batch of impulse-worthy gadgets!

SHORT SPOTLIGHT 🎥
Bluetooth Speakers

In today’s Short Spotlight, I recently posted a 38-second edit of my review of the Humbird Speakers, which supposedly use bone conduction technology to turn almost anything into a speaker.

You can watch that Short here, or the entire longform video here if that’s your thing.

That’s all for this edition! If you check out today’s video, I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether this charger is worth the hype. If you grab any of today’s deals, let me know what you think of them. Until next time… thanks for reading, watching, and being part of the Freakin’ Reviews community!
