New Video: Weird Kitchen Utensils!
A bizarre bagel knife and an apple gadget that tackles two tasks at once.

With Christmas now in our rearview mirror, we’re in that holiday purgatory as we wait for New Year’s and the official end of the holiday season. Before then, however, I have a few last-minute items to wrap up - including some of my last videos of 2025! Today’s video features two interesting kitchen utensils that are bizarre and potentially useful. I also have some flashbacks and fresh Amazon deals.
Let’s dive in!
NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
Weird Kitchen Utensils!
I’m back with a fresh video testing out a couple of strange kitchen gadgets. The first item is a bagel knife that hardly looks like a knife at all. I wanted to see if it actually works and if it could handle the largest of bagels - and the results were surprising. Next, I tried a 2-in-1 apple peeler and corer that has a very satisfying retractable function. This, too, was one that had a surprising result. Be sure to check out the full video before it goes public later today!
Amazon Prime members: See what you could get, no strings attached
If you spend a good amount on Amazon, this card could easily be worth $100s in cash back every year. And — even better — you could get approved extremely fast. If approved, you’ll receive an insanely valuable welcome bonus deposited straight into your Amazon account, ready to use immediately.
You also don’t have to jump through any hoops to get this bonus. No extra work or special spending requirements. Get approved, and it’s yours.
This might be one of the most powerful cash back cards available, especially considering how much most people spend on Amazon each month. It gives you the chance to earn cash back on the purchases you’re already making, turning your routine shopping into something that actually pays you back.
If you shop at Amazon or Whole Foods, this card could help you earn meaningful cash back on every purchase you make. But this offer won’t last forever — and if you’re an Amazon Prime member, this card is as close to a no-brainer as it gets.

DEALS 🏷️
Tree Storage Bag: 48% Off

If you’re still using the old box your artificial tree came in, it could be time to consider an upgrade to something like this Christmas tree storage bag. This 7.5 bag is a more elegant - and probably less dusty - solution than a decaying cardboard box. It’s currently selling for under $16, so it’s priced to move as the holidays end.
Kitchen Mats: 42% Off
Give your kitchen a small upgrade with these cushioned kitchen mats that will provide more comfort than a tile or wood floor, while adding a layer of safety with less slipping and sliding. This set of 2 is currently about $21, down from its usual price of $36.
Pet Blanket: 50% Off
If you love having your furry friends on your couch with you (like I do), these waterproof pet blankets are a nice addition. They look nice, feel nice, and keep your furniture protected from nails and dirt. This one has over 14,000 ratings and is currently selling for $10!
Household Tip: One-Step Potato Peeling
If you’re peeling a lot of potatoes, try this: cut a shallow slit around the middle of each potato before boiling it. After boiling and letting them cool slightly, the skins will slide right off with your fingers, no peeler needed.
This is great for mashed potatoes or potato salad. You end up with cleaner potatoes and far less time spent peeling.

Toaster Showdown (2023)
Exactly two years ago today I posted a review in which I compared two 4-slow toasters: A $70 model by Buydeem vs a $210 model from Breville. The results were surprisingly close and I’m not sure it was a clear winner. The one I chose as the best, however, has remained on my counter for the last two years and still works well. Check out that full review to see how it went.
SHORT SPOTLIGHT 🎥
Worst of 2025 (Short)
![]() | This year I tried something I had never done before: converted my Best of 2025 and Worst of 2025 recaps into shortform content. This week, my Worst of 2025 short has been gaining traction, so apparently my experiment was a success. If you didn’t catch my worst of the year, or want to see a quick recap, be sure to check out that short version. |
I’m not sure if I’ll have any new reviews up before 2026, but I do have a Q&A left, and I’m thinking of doing something very different for that. I may also post a video from earlier this year that was for members only… so stay tuned for what the rest of this week, and the rest of 2025, brings!
Until next time,
James
