New Video: From Flat to Something Completely Different!

Plus deals, flashback, and a freezer hack!

In partnership with

I hope you’re having a great week so far! My latest video is online now and it’s an interesting couple of items. These two gadgets start with something flat and end with something that’s… well, not so flat (I said “round” in my introduction, but that’s not quite accurate). I also have a few great deals from the Prime event, an interesting freezer trick, and a look back at a classic egg gadget review from two years ago.

Let’s dive in!

NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
They Start Off Flat…

These gadgets start with something flat and end with something… not so flat.

This week’s video has a theme, everything starts flat and ends up round(ish). I tested two products that fit that bill perfectly: the FlipWrap, a tortilla-folding gadget that promises “perfect wraps every time,” and a Flat Ice Cream Maker that supposedly turns yogurt or ice cream mix into a frozen treat in minutes.

The FlipWrap actually surprised me because it made a solid breakfast wrap and a pretty great roast beef & Swiss one, too (burnt cheese aside). The ice cream maker yielded tons of skepticism and a bit of surprise when it actually worked… kind of. It’s more frozen yogurt bark than soft-serve, but it did freeze faster than expected.

Do red cars cost more to insure?

You may have heard the myth that red cars cost more to insure, often with varying reasons why. The truth is, the color of your car has nothing to do with your premium. Insurance companies are more interested in your vehicle’s make, model, age, safety features, and your driving history. What’s not a myth, though — is that people really can save a ton of money by switching insurers. Check out Money’s car insurance tool to see if you could, too.

DEALS 🏷️
Samsung Smart Watch: 40% Off

Samsung Smart Watch: 40% Off
If you haven’t taken the plunge into smartwatches, this one’s worth a look. My tracking shows it usually sells for $200–$250, but it’s currently $150 during Amazon’s Prime event. Even better: the discount applies to multiple colors, so it’s not just one of those “limited shade” deals.

Waterpik Cordless Advanced: 40% Off
Another solid Prime deal: the Waterpik 2.0, usually $92–$100, now $60. My dental hygienists are always reminding me to use mine, so I’ll pay it forward and remind you because this is a great time to grab one.

Cuisinart Salad Spinner: 46% Off
I use a similar model by Oxo, but this sale is too good not to mention. Normally $20–$25, it’s now $13.48. If you’re a fellow salad fan, this is an easy win.

The Coin-in-a-Cup Freezer Test
If you’re leaving town or think your power may be going out, fill a cup with water, freeze it solid, then place a coin on top. If the coin ever sinks to the bottom, you’ll know your freezer thawed and refroze, which is an easy way to tell if food might’ve spoiled during an outage.

4 Egg Gadgets (2023)

Always in search of the ultimate egg gadget!

Exactly two years ago today, I tested four egg gadgets to see how well they really worked. The lineup included an egg cracker, egg cutter, egg storage container, and an egg dispenser.

As expected, some of them worked surprisingly well, while others “cracked” under pressure. If you missed it the first time around, this review still holds up because all of these gadgets are still available today.

📺 My Top 10 for October 2025 is updated! This playlist highlights the most popular videos on Freakin’ Reviews right now. Perhaps surprisingly, my potato gadget video from a month ago climbed to the top of the chart, while last year’s Ninja Crispi review refuses to go away. Check out the full playlist to see if there’s a gem you missed, or a video worth rewatching!

SHORT SPOTLIGHT 🎥
Waffle Bowl Maker

Earlier this week I released a short edit of my Presto Waffle Bowl maker, and it has gained a bit of traction in the Shorts universe.

This interesting gadget surprisingly lived up to its advertised purpose, so it was fun and rewarding to use.

If you never saw the full review, you can check that out here.

That’s it for today. I’ll be back probably this weekend with my next review, more deals, and random tips I’ve picked up along the way.

If all goes well, I may also have an “announcement” video coming next week, but we’ll worry about that then!

Until next time,
James
