New Video Alert: Carrot Sharpening & Fruit Smashing?

I gave them both a fair shot. You might be surprised which one actually worked.

I’ve got a brand-new video up, and this one features two kitchen gadgets that take slicing and peeling to odd new places. One sharpens carrots like pencils (seriously), and the other claims to slice just about anything, but mostly just squishes it. I had to put both of these to the test.

Plus, I’ve rounded up some solid Amazon deals, dug up a fun flashback from this date last year, and maybe found a peeler that made me laugh out loud. Let’s get into it...

NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
Slice, Peel, and SMASH?

Testing out two kitchen gadgets for slicing and peeling!

My latest video is live, and this time I’m testing two kitchen gadgets that promise to slice, peel, curl, and more.

One showed up uninvited in my PO box. The other came in an anonymous white box labeled only “Multifunction Slicer.” So I put both to the test.

Here’s what went down:

🥕 Carrot Sharpener Test: Yes, it’s literally a pencil sharpener… but for carrots. Surprisingly sharp. Also surprisingly funny.

🥒 Cucumber Peeling Attempt: Let’s just say not everything fits in this gadget’s design plan.

🍌 Banana Slice-Off: I gave the multifunction slicer a shot at cleanly slicing a banana. It did something.

🥚 Egg Slicer Trial: It says it’s great for eggs. The egg says otherwise.

🍓 Strawberry Smash Test: I tried multiple sizes. Some survived. Others… not so much.

Click below to see how these gadgets performed, which one (if any) impressed me, and which one needed to be hammered to work.

DEALS 🏷️
🐾Pet Water Fountain: 48% Off

If you’ve ever had a cat, you know the deal: they treat still water like it’s poison. I had one that would only drink from a running faucet until I got one of these. Problem solved. Dogs can go either way (Bailey couldn’t care less), but if your pet prefers moving water, this fountain is a winner. It’s down from $33 to just $17 right now.

🍿 Ecolution Popcorn Popper – 22% Off
I tested this one in a popcorn gadget roundup a while back (see that review here) and it’s still my go-to for microwave popcorn. It looks like a glass coffee carafe but pops kernels evenly, is dishwasher safe, and doesn’t require oil (unless you want it). Right now it’s the lowest price I’ve seen in months.

🥣 Priority Chef Mixing Bowls – 16% Off
Mixing bowls aren’t flashy, but this set has been on my wishlist for a while. Five stainless steel bowls, each with its own lid, and they all nest together to save space. I’ve seen cheaper lookalikes, but the reviews on those tend to mention flimsy construction and warping, which is not the case with this set. Currently 16% off.

Nostalgia S’mores Maker (2024)

A contraption for indoor s’mores?

One year ago today, I tested out the Nostalgia S’mores Maker, a countertop gadget that promises indoor s’mores without the campfire. It actually worked decently, but the process was not exactly at lightning speed. I asked the question: Do we really need a machine for this?

🔥 If you missed it (or just want a gooey blast from the past), you can check out the full review below:

Don’t want to watch it? You can read my written version here.

That’s it for now!

If you’ve tried either of the gadgets from today’s video, or have your own go-to slicer/peeler contraptions, I’d love to hear about your experiences. And if you're still on the fence about upgrading your popcorn game or finally getting those mixing bowls with lids, now might be the time with those deals.

As always, thanks for reading (and watching). More reviews are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Until next time,
James
