I compared two sets of can openers way back in 2019 and haven’t said much about them since then… but now in 2026 I’m back with a new can opener comparison, testing out three best sellers to see how they stack up. I’ve also got fresh Amazon deals, a Freakin’ 2 vlog, and a flashback to this date 5 years ago.
Let’s dive in!
NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
Manual vs Hands-Free vs Electric Can Openers
I put three very different can openers to the test to see which one actually deserves a spot in my kitchen. In this showdown, I compare a classic manual opener, the popular Kitchen Mama hands-free opener, and a Cuisinart electric model to see which one is the easiest to use, the smoothest, and the most reliable. I also have a 5-year can opener follow-up and bonus can-related gadget!
Watch the full test and see which can opener comes out on top.

DEALS 🏷️
Sound Bar: 33% Off

This is the #1 Best Selling home audio sound bar on Amazon and it’s currently at the lowest end of its typical range. This usually runs for about $80 but it’s currently going for about $54. If this is the type of upgrade you’re interested in, I’d start here.
Adjustable Desk: 32% Off
If you’ve been looking to take the plunge into an adjustable desk, this is an affordable option that is currently more affordable than usual. Currently under $100 with solid ratings, I’d take a look at this one if you’re in the market.
Rain Shower Head: 41% Off
This combo shower head features two different heads, including a rainfall effect and a handheld option for more versatility. With over 7000 ratings and a solid 4.5 rating, this looks like a viable option.
Two Can-Related Tips!
Rusty Cans: If you store leftover food in an opened can, the exposed metal edge can start to rust in the refrigerator, especially after a day or two. A simple trick is to transfer the leftovers to a glass or plastic container. If you don’t want to do that, at least cover the top with plastic wrap or a reusable silicone lid to keep moisture away from the rim.
Removing Labels: If you want to reuse cans for storage or DIY projects, fill the can with very hot water and let it sit for a few minutes. The heat softens the glue from the inside, and most labels will peel right off with almost no residue.
FREAKIN 2
Jif Peanut Butter Eggs vs Reese’s?
Over on Freakin’ 2, there’s always something new to watch. In the middle of my latest vlog, I decided to settle an important Easter-season question: Jif vs Reese’s peanut butter eggs. Reese’s has dominated this category for years, but Jif recently entered the game and I had to see how they compare side-by-side. I break down the texture, the peanut butter flavor, and whether the newcomer actually holds its own against the classic. Along the way I also deal with a yard full of weeds, make a quick Wendy’s stop, and go on a rant about “water snobs.”

Testing Dumb Products (2021)
It was exactly 5 years ago today that I posted my video in which I tested out dumb products with my friend Cathy. We tried everything from snap sunglasses to an umbrella hat to a self-stirring mug. If you never caught this review the first time around, we had a lot of fun trying out these dumb products!
Well that’s about it for this week. I hope you enjoyed my can opener comparison, whether you were in the market for a new one or not! And if you’re looking for more Freakin’ content, I’ll be back with another Freakin’ 2 vlog tomorrow - including more food-related taste tests - so be on the lookout for that.
Until next time,
James
