May is here and it’s time to start looking ahead to keeping cool. That’s where today’s video come in, as I test out a pricey $330 ice cream maker that promises soft serve with no pre-freezing, no ice, and no salt. Does it work, and is it worth the cost? I’ve also got new F2 taste tests and Amazon deals, so let’s dive in!

This week I tested something intriguing, the Blizzee soft serve ice cream maker. The big selling point is that it doesn’t require any pre-freezing, which immediately caught my attention. Most soft serve machines I’ve tried require planning ahead, so the idea of just pouring in ingredients and having soft serve in 20 to 30 minutes sounded almost too good to be true.

The results, however, were a bit of a mixed bag. My first batch didn’t go well at all, but after making a few adjustments, I was able to get some really solid soft serve. I also tried a pineapple sorbet and a more advanced coffee recipe, and along the way I ran into a few quirks that you’ll definitely want to know about before spending $330 on this machine. If you’re curious whether “no pre-freezing” actually lives up to the hype, this one’s worth checking out.

If your ice cream is rock solid straight out of the freezer, don’t just leave it on the counter and forget about it. That usually leads to a melted outer layer and a still-frozen center.

Instead, let it sit for about 2–3 minutes, then run your scoop under hot water and dry it off before scooping. Repeat as needed. You’ll get clean, smooth scoops without turning the whole container into soup.

Bonus tip: Storing ice cream in a shallow container instead of a deep one makes it much easier to scoop later!
