Are these simple gadgets useful? Plus today's deals, a flashback, and more.

It’s time for a new upload from Freakin’ Reviews! Today’s video will go public a couple of hours after this email is sent out. It is a collection of three simple gadgets that were quite easy to test, which was a nice change from a failed review I attempted before this! I also have a throwback to 2019 and THREE more videos I’m in that posted this week. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get to it!

NEW VIDEO ALERT 📽️
3 Simple Gadgets!

Does “simple” = “useful” with these gadgets?

Earlier this week I was attempting to review a product that was overly complicated, so I scrapped that idea and focused on some SIMPLE items for a change! Email subscribers get to watch early for a couple of hours before it goes public.

What I tested

  • $16 tomato knife (T420 stainless): Shockingly good. Paper-thin slices with almost no pressure. Better than my bread knife.

  • Telescoping “boba” pencil case: Cute, stands on its own, solid capacity. The little straw near the zipper gets in the way, but it’s a fun organizer.

  • Orange/lemon peeler (Temu): It works with practice, but I’ll probably stick to peeling by hand for now.

DEALS 🏷️
“Tactical” Flashlights: 50% Off

When I first started doing reviews on YouTube in late 2016, “tactical” flashlights were the darling of As Seen on TV companies, and TacLight is still around. Today’s deal is nearly identical to those flashlights (which I still use), at a fraction of the cost and solid consumer reviews. This is a two-pack for a whopping $8, so it’s certainly worth grabbing a set before winter arrives.

Shark Steam Mop: 31% Off

I’ve said it before… when I see a #1 Best Seller by a name brand on sale, I take note. This top-selling steam mop by Shark usually runs about $160 but it’s currently selling for $110. I’m a huge fan of steam mops and Shark, so this is an easy recommendation.

Crest 3D Whitestrips: 35% Off

Here’s yet another #1 Best Seller by a name brand that’s on sale, and one I’ve recommended here before. Crest 3D Whitestrips are not particularly cheap, but the current 35% off sale makes them a bit more reasonable.

Latest Q&A, Vlog 50, & F2 Collab!

It’s been a busy week!

Today’s review of simple gadgets is the last of several videos posted online this week. Here’s the rundown in case you missed any of them:

  • October Q&A: My 10th Q&A of 2025 just dropped a couple days ago and I delve into my usual mixed bag of topics such as my favorite product so far this year and what will happen to my channel if I am unable to sustain it.

  • Vlog 50: The latest “secret” vlog has also dropped this week and I cover everything from my thoughts on the post office to kids on electric bikes.

  • Vinegar Pie F2 Collab: I appear at the end of this video in which I try vinegar pie for the first time. It’s something I’ve wondered about for decades and finally got to test it out myself!

Wall-Climbing Cars (2019)

Could this still be a good Christmas gift in 2025?

On this date back in 2019 I tested out a couple of wall-climbing cars that were making the rounds back then. I found that they did work, although maneuvering them was a bit finicky. One of the models I tested is no longer sold, but there are many others like it on Amazon. If you’ve considered this type of gift, this video may still be of some value!

Well that’s about it for today. As I type this email, I’m looking at the calendar and I see that Halloween is tomorrow and Daylight Saving Time ends the day after that. I’ve already started thinking about my holiday shopping and my Best or Worst of the Year videos. The next few months should be fun, memorable, and will fly by painfully fast. Enjoy it while you can!

Until next time,
James
